On December 1st, the 115kV part of the new 230kV Substation Project in Kampong Thom in the phase II of Cambodian eastern ring network which is installed by Engineering Installation Division of Sinomach-He Chengdu Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. has been put into practice ahead of the schedule and is highly recognized by the owner, the contractors and Cambodia Government. Meanwhile, the 500kV Substation Program in Stung Treng in the phase I of Cambodian eastern ring network has been totally completed and is capable of supplying electricity.
The 230kV Substation Project in Kampong Thom and the 500kV Substation Project in Stung Treng present to be the key programs gaining much attention from the state leaders of Cambodia. The programs are generally contracted by SINOMACH. The 230kV substation serves as one significant hub substation across the country and the 500kV substation transmits the electricity for both Cambodia and Laos. Besides, in order to complete the electricity network as soon as possible and address the electricity shortage in Phnom Penh in dry seasons, the owner demanded that the equipment installation period of the project had to be shortened considerably.
After receiving the requirements, the department team turned the pressure into stimulus in order to finish the equipment installation with the period, safety, quantity and quality guaranteed, and carried forward the hardworking spirit. In the harsh environment in Kampong Thom, the employees worked for over 12 hours a day for 30 consecutive days. In addition to ensuring the safe construction and excellent quality, the project members made plans and provided supply service even for more than 15 hours per day. Besides, the department held an oath-taking meeting for “keeping up with the schedule to ensure the supply of electricity” to encourage the team morale and launched an awarding ceremony to praise Cambodian employees to maintain abundant human resources. Finally the 115kV project satisfied the electricity requirements in part and realize the electricity supply in advance thanks to the department’s effort including plan in advance, scientific management, reasonable construction, human resources guarantee and overtime work. Currently, the team is making further efforts in finishing subsequent equipment installation and making more progress in the whole implementation work.
The project team responsible for the 500kV Substation Project in Stung Treng is confronted with challenges including implementation in raining season, time and program pressure and demanding implementation situation with power cut. The project team, however, made every effort to catch up with the schedule. In addition to working for over 12 hours a day for a long period, the program team rose to the challenges, launched detailed safety guarantee measures and carried out construction all night for more than ten consecutive days. The team not only completed the task with time, safety, quality and quantity guaranteed, but also broke the communication barrier between the Chinese and Cambodian employees, and completed the first night safety construction with close cooperation, thus accumulating rich experience for the subsequent construction of the substation projects.
